Coho Salmon
Reproduction and Fish Mount Gallery

The Coho Salmon, also known as the Silver Salmon is the second least abundant species of the Pacific Salmon family. They are a spectacular fighting fish much prized by anglers.

The colouration in the marine waters is brilliant silver. On spawning runs in fresh water, these fish go through extreme changes in shape and colour. The males develop a large kype and both sexes turn a bright red with green backs and blackened undersides.

Whether done as the bright silver ocean phase, or in full spawn red with grotesque kype, the Coho Salmon is a prized trophy to be shown off proudly in anyone's trophy collection.
