This occurs as a result of a taxidermist that uses a mounted fish as their prototype, he has the challenge of making a rigid fibreglass mould off a rigid prototype. To accomplish this style of fish replica, a taxidermist would have to physically sand the majority of the detail off of the fish mount, resulting in the taxidermist pulling the mould off the fish mount leaving the end fish replica very smooth and plastic-like.  To avoid this scenario of creating a plastic-like fish replica we have made the investment of using RTV silicones which are a rubberlike substance that allows us to pull a rigid fish replica out of a mould, while maintaining precision like detail. This material is not moisture sensitive in any way. This simply means our fish replica is being moulded off a fresh fish.
